Corps anticipates a need within the next year for qualified Personal
Service Contractors (PSCs) -- (individuals, not organizations or
companies) to serve as Pre-Service Training Directors/Project Directors
at Peace Corps's Posts in several countries of the former Soviet Union,
Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific regions of the world.
Personal service contracts in specific countries are contingent upon
requests for assistance from the requiring Peace Corps Post(s).
Interested individuals should respond to this notice as no further
notice will be placed. Pre-Service Training Directors/Project Directors
are responsible for the overall leadership, management, administration,
and coordination of the Pre-Service Training (PST) and are responsible
to senior Peace Corps staff in all matters of communications,
reporting, evaluation of contractor staff and trainees, documentation
of training activities; serves as chief administrator of all training
activies, directs trainee learning and acts as liaison with staff and
host country agencies. Duties include: oversight of all aspects of PST
including senior training staff, curriculum development and training
classes for all sectors of training not under the purview of Language
Coordinator and Technical Trainers which includes cross-cultural
development theory and practice (community development role of
Volunteer, general development, Peace Corps orientation and Volunteer
adaptations); prepares calendars, schedules and training syllabuses;
directs TOT, oversees Trainee housing assignments and conducts periodic
visits to Volunteer host families; assures integration of all aspects
of the program. A B.A./B.S. in a relevant field is required; a Master's
Degree is preferred, but not necessary. Peace Corps training and design
experience is required, region-specific experience and fluency in
foreign language(s) is a plus. Housing and transportation will be
provided for the contractor only, no dependents. Some personal hardship
and lack of modern conveniences should be expected. Contracts will be
short-term, three to five months. No benefits are offered except Peace
Corps-required health; accident; liability insurance and medevac/SOS
