Eddy, Contracting Officer, 301-496-3878 The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is seeking support to establish relationships with community-based, public health and hospital-based clinics in the Washington metropolitan area that are treating patients with tuberculosis. The contractor will be required to establish and maintain liaisons with hospital-based, public health, and community-based clinics in the Washington, DC metropolitan area who are diagnosing and treating tuberculosis and related diseases to establish a network of sources for referral to NIAID clinical trials, The contractor will be required to collect data on tuberculosis in the metropolitan area and to serve as a liaison between these clinics and NIAID investigators. The contractor will be required to produce educational material appropriate for patient and physician populations at the participating clinics related to tuberculosis an clinical trails an to esatblish social work and community outreach programs to facilitate patient ability to participate in NIAID clinical trials directed by the Division of Intramural Reseach (DIR). The contractor will be required to arrange and conduct periodic meetings between the affiliated clinics and the NIAID. The contractor will be required to transport biologically hazardous material from local and distant sites to the NIAID to support DIR clinical trials. The contractor shall also be required to hire and provide personnel, both on-site, to support NIAID DIR clinical trails. The NIAID-DIR-99-50 RFP will be issued on/or about April 10, 1999.
