The BAK-12 Aircraft Arresting System is used to bring a disabled
aircraft to a safe stop when it is unable to stop on its own. Each
system consists of two energy absorbers, two fairlead beams, two brake
assemblies, one spare parts kit, two nylon tapes (1,500 ft long), two
tape connectors, and 75 cable supports (donut). The energy absorbers
are joined across the runway by a steel cable and two nylon tapes. The
tapes are housed in the reels that play out during an engagement. The
cable and nylon tapes are connected together by means of tape
connectors. The cable is sustained 2 1/2" above the ground by cable
supports (donut) for aircraft hook engagement. Note 22 Applies: The

concerns from offerors or potential offerors during the proposal
development phase of an acquisition. The Ombudsman does not diminish
the authority of the program director or Contracting Officer, but
communicates Contractor concerns, issues, disagreements, and
recommendations to the appropriate Government personnel. When
requested, the Ombudsman shall maintain strict confidentially as to the
source of the concern. The Ombudsman does not participate in the
