The Government intends to issue on a sole-source basis under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures a purchase order with Data General, Westborro, MA for Data General Year 2000 certified Advanced Operating System/Virtual System (AOS/VS) and Data General Year 2000 certified Advanced Operating System/Virtual System/Sort Merge software applications that are required to correct the existing Year 2000 problems in fielded AN/MSC-63A Tactical Message Switching Systems. To the Government's knowledge, Data General is the only source that can provide the required software correction, as the correction is proprietary data of Data General. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Requests for copies of a request for quotation (RFQ) for information only will be honored. Any responsible firm that believes that it has the capability to provide the required certified software corrections may contact the referenced contract specialist or contracting officer or submit a quotation.
