The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC is looking for interested parties for a proposed contracutal effort for components for the 155mm Modular Artillery Charge System (MACS). MACS is the propulsion system for the Crusader Field Artillery System. Two separate components are involved; WC864 ball powder and SMP992 additive pellets. WC864 is loose spheroidal propellant for use in the ignition system. The composition of the ball powder shall consist of mainly energetic materials such as nitroglycerine, diphenylamine and potassium salt. Physical properties are such that nominal grain diameter is 0.046 inch and nominal web size is 0.31 inch. The quantites estimated are FY00: 25,000 pounds and FY01: 34,000 pounds. SMP992 additive pellets shall be manufactured by aqueous process. The composition of the pellet shall consist of mainly energetic materials such as nitrocellulose, bismuth, potassium and diphenylamine. The additive pellets shall have the nominal diameter of 0.150 inch and nominal web size of 0.05 inch. The quantities required are FY00: 17,000 pounds and FY01: 17,000 pounds. Firms with experience in the above should provide a summary of the company's capabilities including a description of facilities, personnel, and past experience to meet this requirement by March 12, 1999 via email.
