leepri@mail.va.gov. The Department of Veterans Affairs Central Office
(VACO) is conducting a Market Research regarding the purchase of
firearms for the use of VA Police Officers at selected VA facilities
nationwide. The VA has a need for the 9mm semiautomatic pistol. The
pistol shall have the following safety features as a minimum; (1)
double action only (DAO); (2) have a magazine disconnect type safety;
and (3) tigger pull of 9 to 11 lbs., with full trigger travel for each
shot. There should be no external safety device. Because VA police
officers work in a wide range of environmental and weather conditions,
it is requested that the selected pistol must be constructed of a
durable material with a finish that is highly resistant to corrosion.
We also require that the pistol be easy for beginning shooters to
master, and be easy to maintain and field strip for cleaning. All
contractors responding should indicate whether they are a Small
Business, Small Disadvantaged, Veterans-Owned, or a Women-Owned
Business. Any information submitted in response to this notice should
