CONTRACTING PROGRAM U.S. General Services Administration, National
Capital Region, Business Service Center will host an Information
Networking Session on Small Disadvantage Business Contracting And
HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program on March 11, 1999, 9:30 am --
12:00 noon, in the GSA, National Capital Region Auditorium located at
7th & D Streets, SW, Washington, DC, L'Enfant Plaza Metro stop. This
Information Networking Session will be conducted by the Small Business
Administration (SBA). The Information Networking Session will discuss
the regulations concerning Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDB) which
have been revised as a result of the Supreme Court's decision from the
Adarand Construction, Inc. v. Pena case. The Session will also cover
the HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program (Historically Underutilized
Business Zone). The HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program is a
program that provides federal contracting assistance for qualified
small business concerns located in historically underutilized business
zones as an effort to achieve an increase in employment opportunities,
investment and economic development. There is a SBA certification
requirement for HUBZone Businesses. THERE IS NO REGISTRATION; however,
