Solicitation 1443RP8140-99-009, Design and Fabricate Wayside Exhibits
for Muir Woods National Monument. Response due approximately 3/17/99.
SIC code is 7336 and NAICS code is 541430. The National Park Service,
Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) has identified a
requirement for the design, fabrication and delivery of four (4), full
color, interpretive wayside exhibits, including bases, for Muir Woods
National Monument (MUWO) matching the style currently preferred by
GGNRA. One panel is an upright sign measuring 36 inches wide by 54
inches tall with an orientation map and information about the Muir
Woods trails. A second panel is a low profile sign measuring 42 inches
wide by 24 inches deep, telling the story of William Kent and the
preservation of Muir Woods. A third panel is a low profile sign
measuring 42 inches wide by 24 inches deep describing the fallen tree
along the MUWO trail. The fourth panel is moveable program board for
use at the Visitors Center. The work on this contract
includes:researching themes and writing draft text; developing original
illustrations or using historic photos, as necessary; developing draft
layout for park staff review; making all required corrections and
changes; providing full-size color proofs for final review and
approval; preparing files for digital reproduction per fabricator's
specifications; produce panels using digital format, mounted on
appropriate hard backing and covered with clear protective coating;
provision of images (separate) and images and layout of panels
(complete) on CD-ROM for the panel production and for future use by
park staff; provide metal bases which conform to the design and
construction of current park standard for wayside bases; delivery of
panels and bases to MUWO for Government installation. The government
has determined that the technical capability of the contractor is of
greater importance than price in the selection of the contractor.
Proposals will be evaluated subject to the following criteria listed in
order of descending preference: 1) demonstrated experience in planning
and designing exhibit panels and bases; 2) demonstrated experience in
fabrication and installation of exhibit panels and bases; 3) local
office of prime contractor located within 150 miles of GGNRA
headquarters at Fort Mason, San Francisco, CA. This solicitation is Set
Aside for Small Business Concerns. The National Park Service welcomes
and encourages the participation of small disadvantaged and woman-owned
business concerns. Solicitation documents will be available on or about
