COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 8,1999 PSA#2278Commanding Officer, USCG Operations Systems Center, Kearneysville, WV
25430 70 -- SEQUENT S2000/750 MACHINE CABINET SYSTEM, MEMORY UPGRADE FOR 2
SEQUENT S2000/750 MACHINES SOL DTCGG3-99-P-TWV247 DUE 021299 POC Kathy
P. Klein, Contracting Officer, 304-264-2566 This is a combined
synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included with this notice. This announcement constitutes
the only solicitation; bids are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is
DTCGG3-99-P-TWV247. The solicitation document and incorporated
provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition
Circular 97-07. The standard identification code (SIC)for Item #1 is
3571 and the small business size standard is 1000 employees. The SIC
for item #2 is 3577 and the small business size standard is 1000
employees. The Operations Systems Center presently has two (2)
S2000/750 and one (1) S2000/250 SEQUENT machine that are used to
support multiple applications and users as hosts for Coast Guard
mission critical and mission essential systems. The users are located
at Coast Guard Headquarters and various locations throughout the United
States. It has been determined that the Coast Guard must have increased
application availability and improved level of performance. A binary
compatible SEQUENT Model S2000/750 machine (hardware and software) must
be acquired to support recovery efforts if a critical hardware failure
occurs on either production machine. The additional SEQUENT machine
will have hardware configuration that is identical to the PDS and SDAII
production machines. This will accommodate restores of software and
data from available tape backups or swappable disk arrays to provide
quick recovery of user access. Additional memory is necessary for the
two S2000/750 machines to maintain performance as more users are added
to the current systems. Accordingly, SEQUENT equipment and memory is
the only viable solution and the Operations Systems Center is procuring
two items as follows: Item (1) -- SEQUENT S2000/750 machine single
cabinet system with the following components: 1 -- 1.3GB firmware disk,
2 -- 12slot 3.5"PBAYS, 12 -- 9GB disk drives, 1 -- QCIC-W board, 1 --
Ethernet controller, 1 -- FDDI controller, 7 -- Dual 60MHz pentium
controllers, 2GB memory, Shipping and installation, Mimimum 90-day
warranty required. Item (2) -- Memory upgrade for two S2000/750
machines with 12 -- 64MB ECC memory expansion boards, 12 -- 192MB
memory controllers, installation and adjusting kernel parameters. Bid
responses to this inquiry must be received by 4:30 PM on Friday,
February 12, 1999, and shall be addressed to the following: Commanding
Officer, ATTN: Kathy P. Klein, U.S. Coast Guard Operations Systems
