The Dept of Commerce/ NOAA has a contract which is in its second option year that provides a 64-Kbps direct-link, full-duplex, point to point, full period data circuits for service from Silver Spring, MD to Bracknell, England; Brasilia, Brazil; Buenos Aires, Argentina and Tokyo, Japan. With the technological advancement in the communication industry the Government is conducting a market survey to obtain pricing to see if it is in the best interest of the Government to exercise the next option or issue a new contract. If a new contract is issued, this notice will serve as a combined synopsis /solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. In addition to the above, a 64-Kbps circuit, Silver Spring, Md to Pretoria, South Africa, is included with this notice. The period of performance is for a base year plus 4 option years. The response must be sufficient to permit agency analysis to establish a bona fide capability to meet the requirements.
