responses!. 17 -- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes to
purchase or lease Transponder Landing Systems (TLS) from Advanced
Navigation & Positioning Corporation (ANCP), Hood River, Oregon. The
TLS is a ground-based system approved to support special category I
precision approach operations by aircraft equipped with standard
Instrument Landing System (ILS) receivers and Mode A secondary
surveillance radar transponder equipment. It uses radar beacon
transponder replies to establish aircraft position and ILS spectrum
transmitters to provide the guidance along the precision approach path
to the aircraft's ILS receivers. Only those systems for which type
approval has been issued by the FAA, in accordance with 14 CFR
171.75(a) will be considered. ANPC is considered to be the only
contractor which possesses the unique expertise to produce these TLSs
consistent with the time critical nature of this project. Posted
