COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 20,1999 PSA#2265CASS NXTEST MEETING DESCRIPTION CASS NxTest Meeting Description -- The
Naval Air Systems Command Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS)
Program Office (PMA-260) has initiated a program to achieve a graceful
transition for CASS, while leveraging technology to significantly
reduce total ownership cost. The program, called Next Test (NxTest), is
in its early phases with emphasis on requirements identification and
technology demonstration. Among the requirements currently identified
are: ease of technology insertion, support of legacy Test Program Sets
(TPSs), use of virtual/synthetic instruments, and incorporation of DoD
Automatic Test System (ATS) policy. The requirements identification and
technology demonstration efforts are scheduled to continue through
September 1999. At the completion of these efforts, a decision on how
to proceed will be made and formal requirements and design
documentation will be produced. In order to ensure a thorough
identification of requirements and consideration of all pertinent
technologies, theCASS Program Office will hold a one-day meeting with
industry on March 10 at the Institute for Defense Analysis (IDA), 2001
N. Beauregard Street, Alexandria, Va. The morning session will be
devoted to presentations by the Navy NxTest Integrated Program Team
(IPT) members on NxTest objectives, status, and currently identified
requirements. The afternoon session will be open for discussion on the
requirements and potential technology solutions, which should be
investigated. The meeting is open to all DoD and industry
organizations, however, attendance is limited to two (2)
representatives per organization. Interested parties should send name,
organization name, address, phone number and e-mail address to Alex
Meloni (732)323-4707; Meloni@lakehurst.navy.mil. All responses must be
