The dredge shall have a dustpan and water agitation jet assembly attached to the suction pipe. The dustpan shall be designed to function such that it can accommodate the dredge in meeting or exceeding the specified dredging requirements. The dredge shall not be less than 38 inches diameter discharge and not less than 3600 pump brake horsepower rating for continuous operation. The rate of advance of the dredge, which is the forward movement of the dredge while pumping materials, shall be the rate required to maintain the minimum production rate. The discharge size will be considered to be the minimum diameter of either the pump discharge or discharge line, whichever is the lesser. The suction pipe shall have an intake section of pipewith valve near the pump for the purpose of inserting dye in the pump to determine the velocity. The dredge shall be capable of starting work and working efficiently in 10' depth. The depth of dredging generally ranges from 12' to 60'. The draft of the dredge shall not exceed nine feet. The dredge shall be self-propelled for moving under its own power upriver and downriver to dredging assignment locations. The dredge shall have sufficient propulsion horsepower to have a minimum sailing speed of 3 miles per hour (mph) upriver and 8 mph downriver in currents of up to 7 feet per second (fps) for moving to commence dredging at a new location. The dredge shall be of such design as to work efficiently and permit passage of other vessels while working in a 300 to 500 foot wide channel. The dredge shall be adequately powered and properly equipped for the pump size and horsepower used. The minimum estimated drege output shall be 4800 cubic yards per pumping hour. Attendant plant shall consist of (1) derrick (self-propelled), (2) derrick barge ("A" frame), (3) floating pipeline (1000 foot), (4) two tenders, (5) one workboat.
