58 -- MARKET SURVEY FOR LASER DIODE ARRAYS FOR MILITARY SYSTEMS SOL NA DUE 021799 POC Point of Contact -- Ward Trussell, 703-704-1355 E-MAIL: Click here to e-mail the POC, ctrussel@nvl.army.mil. The U.S. Army Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate seeks source, availability, and estimated cost information for quasi-CW laser diode arrays for pumping Nd:YAG lasers used in US Army laser rangefinder/designator systems. The laser diode arrays required have between 8 and 16 bars per array depending on the application and produce 60 watts per bar at an operating temperature of 50 to 60 degrees Centigrade. The arrays will be mounted in a conduction cooled package and be capable of duty factors of 0.5 % with a temperature differential of less than 10 degrees Centigrade between the laser diode bar and the heat sink mounting surface. The wavelength output will be in the range from 804 nm to 810 nm under operating conditions. NVESD is exploring the potential to evaluate products under the Department of Defense (DOD) Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) Program. This market survey is open to both U.S. and foreign vendors. Responses to this market survey must include the device manufacturer, a productdescription with performance parameters, and a statement regarding current availability and estimated cost of the product. In addition, responses must include country of product origin for critical components and completed devices and the product development status (i.e. NDI, prototype, in production (numbers produced), fully developed, but not in production). For additional information regarding this potential FCT program or technical details of the components/products being sought, contact Ward Trussell, Commercial (703) 704-1355 or DSN 654-1355. Submit responses to this Market Survey in writing to the following address: Night Vision & Electronic Sensors Directorate, AMSEL-RD-NV-ST-LT (W. Trussell), 10215 Burbeck Road, Ft. Belvoir, VA 22060-5806 Posted 01/14/99 (D-SN288012). (0014)
