99 -- REFUSE SERVICES FOR GOVERNMENT FACILITIES POC Mrs. Claudia Colvin (703) 806-4475 (Site Code DADW35) The Military District of Washington Acquisition Center (MDWAC), Fort Belvoir, Virginia intends to issue a solicitation to provide refuse services to government administrative facilities. This includes providing adequate management, labor, material, supplies, transportation, equipment, planning, scheduling, coordinating and office storage for refuse systems and office support in support of the MDW community (Forts: McNair, Washington, DC, Meade, MD, Myer, VA, Hamilton, NY, A.P. Hill, VA, Belvoir, VA and National Defense University, Washington, DC). This service includes the collection and disposal of refuse and recyclable materials with roll-offs. The roll-offs for recyclable material will be capable of holding aluminum, glass, plastic & newspaper. The roll-offs for refuse will hold materials such as cotton, wood, paper, cardboard, plastic, etc. No hazardous waste or material will be included. Some items will have metal attachments, hinges, screws, bolts, nails, etc., not to exceed (10)ten percent of each load. The full roll-offs will be transported to either a landfill or recycling vendor, as applicable. Contractor personnel may be required to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance, if applicable. The period of performance will be based on the current year's budget and the needs of the requiring activity at the time of contract award. The proposed procurement is not to preclude the utilization of Small Business Set-Aside. The Standard Industrial code (SIC) for this requirement is 4953. This Request for Information (RFI) does not constitute an Invitation for Bid or a Request for Proposal. Any procurement action for refuse services will be the subject of a separate future announcement. All responses to this RFI, to include questions and comments, are to be submitted to the MDWAC not later than 18 Feb 99. This procurement action could result in either single or multiple contract award(s). Based on industry response to this RFI, a solicitation will be available via the Internet on or about 23 Apr 99. The evaluation of the responses to this RFI will be based on the ability of the respondent to satisfy the government's requirement. The government will not reimburse the respondent for any costs associated with information submitted and is under no obligation to award any related contract associated with this RFI.
