99 -- SECURITY MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION OF BUILDING OCCUPANTS POC Mrs. Claudia Colvin (703) 806-4475 (Site Code DADW35) The Military District of Washington Acquisition Center (MDWAC), Fort Belvoir, Virginia, intends to issue a solicitation to maintain security and protection to building occupants. This includes providing adequate management, personel, equipment, planning, scheduling and coordination in support of the MDW community (Forts: Meade, MD, Myer, VA, Hamilton, NY, A.P. Hill, VA, Belvoir, VA, McNair, Washington, DC, and National Defense University, Washington,DC). This service includes receiving incoming persons, checking and inspecting any items carried by individuals, and detaining individuals from gaining unauthorized access to the building. Contractor personnel may be required to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance, if applicable. The period of performance will be for the base period and four, twelve-month option years. The performance period will be based on the current year's budget and the needs of the requiring activity at the time of contract award. This procurement is not topreclude the utilization of small Business Set-Aside. The Standard Industrial Code (SIC) for this procurement is 7381. This Request for Information (RFI) does not constitute an Invidation for Bid or a Request for Proposal. Any procurement action for maintenance of security and protection of building occupants will be the subject of a separate, future announcement. All rsponses to this RFI, to include questions and comments, are to be submitted to the MDWAC not later than 18 February 1999. This procurement action could result in either single or multiple contract award(s). Based on the industry response to this RFI, a solicitation will be available via the Internet on or about 23 April 1999. The evaluation of the responses to this RFI will be based on the ability of the respondent to satisfy the government's requirement. The government will not reimburse the respondent for any costs associated with information submitted and is under no obligation to award any related contract associated with this RFI.
