SPAWARSYSCEN, Charleston intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP)
for engineering and logistics support of various military departments
and weapons systems manager to accomplish and overhaul support
requirements needed to sustain aging weapons systems. The required
types of support include direct support for design, integration, and
testing modifications, maintenance, configuration management, quality
assurance, first article testing and qualification testing, technical
and engineering support analysis and other acquisition support needed
to meet the goals and objectives under the Department of Defense (DOD)
Acquisition Reform Program. This effort requires the offeror to have
required knowledge, understanding and experience with major weapon
systems, subsystems and components. It is anticipated that this action
will result in multiple awards of cost plus fixed fee, indefinite
delivery, indefinite quantity, level of effort and completion type
delivery/task order contracts. These contracts will havea base period
of one year with options provision for four (4) one year option period.
THIS SYNOPSIS IS THE RESULT OF THE SOURCES SOUGHT UNDER
N65236-98-R-0428. All responsible sources may submit a proposal under
which shall be considered by the agency in response to this
solicitation. The Government intends to issue a draft solicitation to
answer industry questions. This will be followed by the formal request
for proposal. It is anticipated that the draft solicitation will be
available by 15 January 1999 on the SPAWARSYSCEN, Charleston web page
at the following URL address

questions concerning the draft solicitation and the request for
proposal are to be provided in writing to the attention of Mae Bartley,

is the responsibility of the interested parties to independently review
the web page frequently for updates to any an all documents. Potential
offeror will be responsible for downloading their own copy of the
