83 -- SOURCES SOUGHT -- FABRIC FOR USE IN ARMY CLASS A DRESS UNIFORMS SOL 032&&&-9901-0001 POC PAMELA MORIARTY, PROJECT OFFICER (Site Code DAAD16) SOURCES SOUGHT: The U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command, Soldier Systems Center, has a requirement to identify possible inexpensive fabrics for use in the production of standard CLASS A, dress uniforms. The fabrics must be produced in the United States of U.S. made fibers, but the Government is not mandating the type of fibers to be used. The only absolute requirements are that the fabrics be dark blue (Army Blue 450) and that the fabrics be of a type appropriate for use in dress clothing. NO SOLICITATION CURRENTLY EXISTS. Companies interested in having their fabrics considered for possible use in any upcoming procurements of the subject dark blue dress uniforms must submit a sample (one-half yard) of their fabric, along with an information paper (Specification sheet) describing the fabric in detail, to include such things as fabric name, place of manufacture, location of source of fibers/elements, blend of materials, colorfastness, flame retardance, current uses for the fabric, pricing information (cost per yard) reflecting discounts for various volumes ordered, statement as to the fabric's compliance with color requirements, and any other information that the company feels appropriate. The Government's goal is to identify fabrics which are materially less expensive than the current fabric (55/45% Poly/Wool Tropical) being used in Army dress uniforms. This fabric now costs approximately $11 per yard. The fabric sample and information paper must be submitted no later than 22 January 1999 to Ms. Pamela Moriarty at the US ARMY SOLDIER AND BIOLOGICAL CHEMICAL COMMAND, SOLDIER SYSTEMS CENTER, DEVELOPMENT BUILDING, ROOM D247, NATICK, MA 01760.
