plans to issue a draft RFO via the internet, for the first phase of the
Next Generation Space Telescope Advanced Mirror Systems Demonstrator on
or about December 22, 1998. This document is for information and
planning purposes and to allow industry the opportunity to furnish
comments on all aspects of the Draft RFO, Statement of Work and Model
Contract, as well as promote competition. Prospective offerors are
invited to submit comments or questions to:Richard W. McClearen, no
later than January 8, 1999. An industry briefing is planned at the USAF
Research Laboratory, Albuquerque, NM, on or about January 13, 1999. In
responding, reference RFO 8-1-8-TA-60050. Comments may be forwarded to
Richard W. McClearen via electronic transmission or by facsimile
transmission. This solicitation/synopsis is not to be construed as a
commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the
information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results
of the review. Any questions regarding this announcement should be
directed to the identified point of contact. An ombudsman has been
appointed -- See Internet Note "B". The solicitation and any documents
related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These
documents will be in Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, or
