A -- NOVEL GAS CLEANING CONDITIONING FOR IGCC!! SOL DE-RA26-99FT40346!! POC Contact Kelly A. McDonald, 304/285-4113/Contracting Officer, D. Denise Riggi, 304/285-4241!! The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Federal Energy Technology Center (FETC), intends to issue a Solicitation for Program Research and Development Announcement (PRDA) No. DE-RA26-99FT40346, entitled "Novel Gas Cleaning/Conditioning for Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC)." The objective of this effort is to develop novel approaches for reducing to near-zero levels, the sulfur-, nitrogen-, alkali-, and chlorine-containing gas emissions and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) caused by fuel bound constituents found in carbonaceous materials which are processed in IGCC technologies. These approaches are to be pre-combustion, and specifically cannot be post-combustion processes. These advanced approaches may include modification to the gasification system itself. To be considered for award, the proposed approaches may be conceptual or real, but must be able to operate in conjunction with gasification of carbonaceous material, have the potential to remove synthesis gas constituents to less than detectable limits (near-zero) using conventional instrumentation, and be economically feasible without loss to overall system efficiency. Individual contaminant control concepts are expected. However, multiple contaminate control concepts, e.g., in series, and simultaneous control concepts are encouraged. The research effort will consist of two stages. The Base Program (estimated at 2 years) will provide for laboratory exploration of the concept to permit a feasibility assessment. If the concept is selected for further support, an Optional Program (estimated at 3 years) shall verify the concept practicality through bench-scale experiments and economic, technical and commercial feasibility analyses. DOE plans to post the solicitation on FETC's Homepage on or around January 29, 1999. Offerors and other interested parties are encouraged to download the solicitation once it becomes available, as paper copies will not be distributed. Any amendments to the solicitation will also be posted on the FETC Homepage. See Note (2).***** Posted 12/18/98 (W-SN281776). (0352)
