d7810@do.usbr.gov. Marketing Research -- The Bureau of Reclamation is
seeking sources to provide magnetic flowmeters and converters for
construction of a nanofiltration pilot plant for the Paradox Valley
Salinity Control Project. They must be equivalent or similar to the
magnetic flowmeters and converters manufactured by Yokagawa. Selected
design requirements are critical for the safe, effective, and accurate
operation of the magnetic flowmeters for the pilot plant application.
The Yokogawa specifications, the only known source that can provide
both -- and 1-inch meters, are as follows: Very high operating
pressures (1000-1200 psi) will be involved in testing, it is therefore
necessary that 6 of the 11 magnetic flowmeters used include 600# ANSI
flanges for the process connections, rather than 300# flanges which
limits the pressure rating to 740 psi. Because of the low-flow
operating range (1.5-4.0 gpm) required in 3 of the 12 magnetic
flowmeters, it is necessary that the -inch meters produce linear
results over this range at 0.5% accuracy. The highly corrosive nature
of the process fluid requires that extremely inert materials be used
for all wetted parts of the meters, i.e., Hastelloy C for the
electrodes and PFA (Teflon) for the lining. Operators will be manually
recording data from these meters several times a day; therefore, it is
necessary that the displays on the remote converters be easily
readable. Consequently, larger -inch LED displays would be preferable
to the typically-supplied small 16-digit back-lit LCD displays. Vendors
having the ability to furnish the items described herein are requested
to give written notification and pricing data via fax (303) 445-6345
or -Mail to D-7810@do.usbr.gov/ no later than, December 29, 1998.
Responses must be in sufficient detail to demonstrate the respondent's
ability to meet the requirements stated above; and should include the
firms's Dun & Bradstreet and Tax ID Numbers (TIN) and their business
size based on the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC code) of
3823.To be rated as a Small Business, there must not be more than 500
employees working for the company. This notice is for marketing
research purposes only; however, the information gathered from this
notice will be used to determine which preference program will be used
to process the acquisition (e.g., 8(a) set-aside under the Small
Business Administration's 8(a) program total small business set-aside,
or full and open competition.) No preference program determination
will be made until the market research has been completed. This is a
market research notice only, and not a Request for Quotation or an
announcement of a solicitation. The Government will not pay for any
materials furnished in response to this synopsis. Submittals furnished
will not be returned to the sender. Posted 12/18/98 (W-SN281803).
