NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a 24" Diameter Platinum Target with a new hollow cylinder of copper with a layer of platinum on the inside surface. The platinum layer is to be 0.025" thick, covering the entire inside surface of the copper cylinder. Platinum purity is to be 99.95% or better. The Platinum foil may be segmented; all joints shall have a minimum .01" overlap. A drawing will be made available with the RFQ. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The DPAS Rating for this procurment is DO C9. The anticipated release date of RFQ is on or about 12/30/1998 with an anticipated quote due date of on or about 1/15/99.
