S -- - NOTICE OF INTENT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT WITH UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA-ANCHORAGE (UAA). Notice of intent to negotiate a contract with the University of Alaska-Anchorage (UAA). Purpose of contract is to have UAA research ice properties and ice navigation in Cook Inlet and other coastal areas of Alaska. UAA will also develop a guide entitled "Guide to Marine Ice" with aerial, shipboard, and shore photographs illustrating each category of ice condition which may be readily distinguished by volunteer pilots of ships and planes, and by shore observers. Use of this guide will result in more accurate and timely ice information among mariners, which wil in turn increase safety and efficiency of waterborne commerce in Alaska, and reduce the potential for oil spills. Interested sources with qualifications and experience (doctorate level only) may submit qualifications and experience in researching ice properties and ice navigation in the Prince William Sound and other coastal areas of Alaskan areas may submit qualifications and experience by fax to Randall Brown at fax 206-526-6025.
