Officer (407) 494-1668 SOURCES SOUGHT: The Air Force Technical
Applications Center (AFTAC) has a requirement to convert approximately
26,000 IBM 3480 cartridge tapes. Some will need to be converted to
usable seismic data in a format used by the AFTAC Center for Seismic
Studies 3.0 (CSS 3.0), and others can be a straight conversion. The
data also needs to be transferred to Digital Linear Tapes (DLTs).
Converted tapes will be processed, marked for destruction and properly
classified. The successful contractor will be required to propose an
acceptable approach as to how the tapes will be converted. All offerors
must have a Top Secret/SCI clearance, and depending upon the acceptable
technical solution will either currently operate an SCI facility at the
time of contract award or have an existing facility eligible for SCI
certification within 45 days after award. A clearance level of Secret
will be required to receive the solicitation which is anticipated to be
a two-step formally advertised acquisition IAW FAR 14.5. A
firm-fixed-price (FFP) contract is contemplated with a performance
period of one year from date of award. The applicable SIC code and size
standard are 7374/$18M. Respondents should provide information
regarding the capability of each firm to satisfy these requirements
along with a brief summary of the anticipated approach. Firms must
respond within 30 calendar days from the printed issue date and (1)
state whether they are small or large business based on the size
standard above, and (2) indicate if a small disadvantaged or
woman-owned business, 8(a) firm, or Historically Black College or
University or Minority Institution (HBCU/MI). The government reserves
the right to set this acquisition aside for small businesses, 8(a)
firms, or HBCUs/MIs based on the responses received. Firms responding
will be notified of the results of the capablity assessments. This
synopsis is for planning purposes only and does not commit the
government to pay for the information requested, issue a solicitation,
or award a contract. No technical or solicitation documents exist now.
