U -- TRAINING FOR THE USS VIRGINIA CLASS SUBMARINE SYSTEM SOL N00024-99-R-2105 POC Cathy Baldwin, SEA 02213C, (703) 602-7600 x211 The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to issue a sole source solicitation to Electric Boat Corporation, Groton, Connecticut to establish and refine training curricula, course documentation, interactive courseware, engineering services, facilities and training equipment in support of the VIRGINIA Class Submarine Program. There are two nuclear qualified shipyards in the United States, Electric Boat and Newport News Shipbuilding. Both shipbuilders are actively participating in the VIRGINIA Class Submarine. EB is the Lead Design Yard and the Prime contractor for construction of the NSSN. As the Lead Design Yard, EB has developed unique knowledge and engineering experience that is essential to develop the training curricula, course documentation and the engineering experience required to develop and conduct training for the VIRGINIA Class Submarine Program.
