Dahlgren, VA 22448-5100 58 -- GENERAL PURPOSE RADIO REMOTE (GPRR) SOL N00178-99-Q-3002 POC
Angela S. Headley, Contract Specialist (540) 653-7765 WEB: Dahlgren
Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center,
http://www.nswc.navy.mil/supply. E-MAIL: Dahlgren Division, Naval
Surface Warfare Center, headleyas@nswc.navy.mil. The Naval Surface
Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) is requesting information
for a General Purpose Radio Remote (GPRR) to support a US Marine Corps
requirement. This information includes sources, contract vehicles,
technical information and approximate cost of government-off-the-shelf
and commercial-off-the-shelf products that can meet the requirements.
NO SOLICITATION EXISTS AT THIS TIME. The GPRR system will provide
improvements in remote communications capabilities for Command and
Control. The purpose of the GPRR is to support the establishment of the
main radio transmission and antenna site at a tactically and
technically sound location, while locating the tactical command element
in a more concealed and survivable location. The GPRR system shall have
the following capabilities: (1) Remote both digital and analog (voice)
radio transmissions a minimum of three kilometers (three miles
desired); (2) Connect user terminals to radios via wire, fiber optic
cable, and (optionally) wideband low-probability-of-intercept (LPI)
transceivers; (3) Support up to 5 users and interface to 5 radios
simultaneously; (4) Interface, and be compatible with, all current and
planned analog (voice) and digital (encrypted and unencrypted) signals
from HF, VHF, UHF, and EHF radio systems operated by the USMC; (5)
Interface with End User Computer Equipment and Digital Computer
Terminals; (6) Use DC, AC, or vehicle power; and (7) Be transportable
by manpack, tactical vehicle, aircraft, or ship (it is desirable that
the equipment be easily lifted by one Marine). This request is for
information only. This inquiry is intended to identify likely
commercial products that will fill all or part of the requirements of
a GPRR system and obtain a summary of each product's capabilities. As
industry may expect to see portions of submitted information in future
solicitations, no proprietary information may be submitted. All
interested firms shall contact Angela Headley at (540)653-7765, FAX
(540) 653-6810 or e-mail at headleyas@nswc.navy.mil by 20 November
1998, 2:00pm EST. Please provide company point of contact, telephone
and fax numbers, e-mail address, information regarding business
capabilities and business size. Technical questions may be addressed to
saffostn@nswc.navy.mil. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A
CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION OR OTHERWISE PAY
FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED. 58 -- Communication, Detection and
