soliciting information for potential sources for a pressurized
habitable module to augment the present Space Shuttle Orbiter middeck
capabilities. This payload carrier requires end-to-end payload and
mission management, and integration and operations services for the
STS-101 mission, currently scheduled to launch on August 5, 1999. No
solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the
solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in
the CBD and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the
potential offerors responsibility to monitor these sites for the
release of any solicitation or synopsis. Interested offerors/vendors
having the required specialized capabilities to meet the above
requirement should submit a capability statement of 3 pages or less
indicating the ability to perform all aspects of the effort described
herein. Technical questions should be directed to: Thomas McPherson

Christine Mack (281) 483-1244. This requirement is considered to be a
commercial or commercial-type product. A commercial item is defined in
Internet "Note A". This synopsis is being issued prior to exercising
option 4 of the SPACEHAB Research and Logistics Mission Support
contract, NAS 9-97199, for a logistics double module, in order to
determine whether this option is the most advantageous method of
fulfilling the Government's need, price, and other factors identifed in
FAR Part 17.207 (d) and (e). This synopsis is not to be construed as a
commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for
information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results
of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be
considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement. The
Government reserves the right to consider a small business or 8(a)
set-aside based on responses hereto. All responses shall be submitted
to Christine Mack/BV2 no later than November 12, 1998. In responding
