Huggins, Contracting Officer, 301-504-1165 Z -- Solicitation Notice -- The contractor shall provide all material, labor, equipment, and supervision, etc., necessary for construction of a 58,600 square foot Research Laboratory located at the U.S. Vegetable Laboratory, 2875 Savannah Highway, Charleston, South Carolina 29414. The research laboratory is to be sited on an approximate 15 acre parcel on the North side of U.S. Highway 17 and will consist of three connected buildings. The first two buildings are two stories and will house the administrative and laboratory spaces. The third building is single story and contains mechanical spaces. The work includes: site/civil work and structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems as required. The total Estimated Cost of Construction (ECC) for this project is more than $10,000,000. Time for completion of the work will be 730 calendar days from the date of Notice to Proceed. A pre-bid meeting is tentatively scheduled for December 2, 1998, at the U.S. Vegetable Laboratory.Those firms that previously purchased sets of plans and specifications under Solicitation No. 8255-3K15-98 will not be charged, but will need to formally request, in writing, the documents from Odell & Associates. For all others, sets of plans and specifications will be available for a non-refundable charge of $250 (check or money order) made payable to USDA, Agricultural Research Service.
