SUBJECT-SP050098R0086- 99 -- Fire fighting Initiative -- This
announcement is hereby revised. The solicitation will now include both
Central and Western Regions under one acquisition. DESC: The Defense
Industrial Supply Center (DISC) is seeking proposals from business
entities interested in participating in an acquisition as a Preferred
Vendor for fire fighting equipment and customary services. The
initiative will encompass all supplies, customary services and training
associated with fire fighting . This is a representative list and
should not be considered exhaustive of all products that will be
required of the initiative. All items are brand name specific and/or
generic commercial products. A Preferred Vendor, or integrated supplier
can be defined as the designation of a single source of supply for a
wide range of products. Potential implementation sites for the
Central/Western Region would include approximately 7 military
facilities located in the Western Region: Zone 1-Hickam AFB, Hawaii,
Pearl Harbor Federal Fire Department, Hawaii, San Diego Federal Fire
Department, Calif., NAS Miramar, Calif. and Camp Pendleton, Calif. and
Zone 2: Fort Lewis, Washington, and McChord, AFB, Washington with an
estimated dollar value $1.9M. The Central Region's sites will be
identified at a later date but the estimated dollar value will be
approximately $1 million . The estimated annual value for the
Central/Western Region is $12.4 M. (Western Region estimated at $7.4 M,
Central at $5.3 M). Offers may be submitted and will be considered on
any or all zone(s) and or region(s). Prospective contractors should be
able to adequately support purchases that will range from minimum (to
be negotiated) with a maximum potential stated above for the
Central/Western Region. The value is contingent on the number of
facilities and the extent of the participation of those facilities at
any given time. Prospective contractors should have on-line Electronic
Order Entry (EOE) system and have Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
capability. Subject solicitation will be issued on an unrestricted
basis, with 13% evaluation reference for SDB concerns, with the
resultant contract being an Indefinite Quantity /Indefinite Delivery
Type Contract for a two year base with three (3) one year options. This
will be a best value source selection acquisition in which technical
merit is considered more important then price, A formal Solicitation
including the Statement of Objective with an anticipated issue date of
November 12, 1998 and an estimated closing date of January 12, 1999.
