small business. Work consists of dredging material from the downstream
approach channel for the Lower Monumental Navigation Lock. No form of
suction dredging will be allowed. Only mechanical digging methods such
as clamshell can be used. The contractor will be responsible for
removing approximately 8,500 cubic meters of gravels, cobbles, and
boulder type materials and disposing it in water approximately 18 miles
downstream from the dam. A small quantity of bedrock may also be
encountered. Blasting of bedrock will not be allowed. Bedrock must be
loosened by drilling, jackhammering, wedging, splitting, or similar
technique. Location of work is on the lower Snake River, Walla Walla
County, Washington. Estimated cost is between $100,000 and $250,000.
The standard industrial classification (SIC) code is 1629. The small
business size standard is average annual receipts for the previous
three fiscal years is $13,500,000. To be considered small for purposes
of government procurement, a firm must perform at least 40 percent of
the volume dredged with its own equipment or equipment owned by
