vocation improvements at the Penobscot Job Corps Center located in
Bangor, Maine. The work includes: 1) minor demolition and removal of
various building components and installation of new duct work,
ventilating and air-conditioning roof top units, associated electrical
work and architectural finishes in Building No. 5 (Union Street) and
No. 6 (Dow Lane), and 2) minor demolition and expansion of the
wastewater treatment classroom including structural, roofing,
mechanical, electrical systems, and architectural finishes. The period
of performance for construction is 268 calendar days from receipt of
notice to proceed through completion of the project. The estimated cost
range of construction is between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. Initial
Plans and Specifications will be available on November 3, 1998, only
fro the Architect/Engineer firm of The Ames Corporation, 115 Main
Street, Bangor, Maine 04402-2610. Contact Mr. Patrick Taber (207)

accepted. It is emphasized that requests for plans and specifications
should be directed to the A/E firm listed above to ensure proper
handling of requests. Plans and Specifications will be made available
for pick up at the A/E's office and also for delivery at an additional
charge. Requests must be made in writing and will be answered on a
first-come, first-serve basis until the initial supply is exhausted.
For requests made after the initial supply is exhausted, a
non-refundable fee not to exceed the actual cost of reproduction of the
IFB documents (to be determined by the Contracting Officer,) plus a
shipping charge based on each individual request (if applicable,) will
be required in order to obtain the IFB documents. Pre-Bid Walk-Thru is
scheduled for November 18, 1998, at 9:00 a.m. (local) at the Center.
This will be the only opportunity to review the job site prior to
submission of bids. Bid-Opening is scheduled for December 3, 1998, at
2:00 p.m. (local) at the A/E's office. [NOTE: THIS IS A 100% SMALL
BUSINESS SET-ASIDE ACQUISITION. The Standard Industrial Classification
(SIC) code for this acquisition is 1711. The Small Business Size
