NATIONWIDE TRAVEL MANAGEMENT CENTER SERVICES -- DRAFT SOLICITATION The General Services Administration (GSA) currently administers over 140 contracts for travel management services. Gross air sales totaled over $500 million in fiscal year 1997. Most of the current TMC contracts cover the requirements of civilian agencies within a defined geographic area. Contracts are also in effect that meet the needs of individual agencies, either at the headquarters level or nationwide. GSA is proposing to issue a single solicitation for travel management services with multiple line items covering nationwide service and service to various geographic areas within the United States. GSA anticipates awarding contracts to multiple contractors for each line item. Federal agencies that require travel management services primarily for domestic travel will issue task orders against the contracts. We expect this procurement methodology to provide Federal agencies with the ability to tailor the travel management program to their needs, allow the introduction of new services/technological advances, and promote competition. Basic and optional services will be defined in a draft solicitation that is tentatively scheduled to be issued in early November 1998.
