COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 15,1998 PSA#2201PLANNING FOR SUCCESS WHEN DOING BUSINESS WITH THE ARMY CORPS OF
ENGINEERS CONFERENCE CBD Notice The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Small
Business Office, is hosting the 2nd Annual "Planning for Success When
Doing Business with The Army Corps of Engineers" Conference, December
7 & 8, 1998 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, 1700 Jefferson Davis
Highway, Arlington, Virginia. All small businesses are encouraged to
attend. The conference will focus on Engineering, Construction,
Environmental, and Research & Development activities of the Army Corps
of Engineers. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is the Nation's premier
engineering organization, providing comprehensive engineering,
management and technical support to the Department of Defense, other
agencies, and State and local governments. Small business plays an
essential role in assisting the Corps in accomplishing its mission.
Last year the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded over $2 billion in
direct contracts to small businesses. The format of this year's
conference begins at Noon on Monday, December 7, 1998 with a general
session concluding with an evening reception. Tuesday, December 8, 1998
will be devoted to an all day Business Opportunity Fair, concurrent
breakout sessions on several timely topics and a luncheon with guest
speaker. This premier conference brings together small business leaders
and key USACE decision makers, from the top level to commanders in the
field where acquisitions are conducted. It provides a forum for direct
exchange of information and ideas between senior USACE officials and
small business leaders. The Business Opportunity Fair, which is a
significant feature of the conference, will outline future business
opportunities available in buying commands. It is a unique opportunity
to meet with all the Corps Division and District Commanders along with
their Deputies for Small Business to address individual questions and
concerns at their exhibit area. The Fair will be open all day on
Tuesday, December 8, 1998 so you will have plenty of time to visit the
exhibits. Target Audience: CEOs and senior executives of small
business, small disadvantaged business and women-owned small business
firms. Conference Purposes: To provide a healthy exchange of
information. To improve the small business community's understanding of
acquisition reform as implemented in the Army. Enhance communication
between USACE and small businesses, beginning with senior leaders of
both communities. Increase the small business community's knowledge of
potential opportunities with USACE. If interested in receiving further
