prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.303, as
supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This
announcement constitutes the official notification for which quotes
are being requested and a written solicitation will be issued. The
solicitation document Request for Quotes (RFQ) 279-0006 and
incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal
Acquisition Regulation Circular 97-06. This procurement is being
advertised as a fully competed procurement, under standard industrial
classification code 8071, with a small business size standard of 5.0
million. SOL RFQ 279-0006 will be issued on 10/15/98 POC RICKY HAROLD,
CONTRACT SPECIALIST, (925) 803-2777. This procurement will be awarded
as a requirements type contract. The Federal Bureau of Prisons,
Federal Correctional Institution, Terminal Island, CA has an immediate
need for Professional Medical Laboratory Services. The Laboratory
Services contract will be awarded to the contractor who submits the
best value offer. (a) The services will require a pickup within the
greater metropolitan area of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles. This
solicitation requires: 1). The services will be performed at the
Contract Laboratory. 2). Specimens will be collected by institutional
staff and the Contractor shall pickup specimens from the institution on
a daily basis and provide written results on the following day. In
addition, when requested, results will be provided by telephone with
written results to follow. 3). Specimens will be accompanied by a
request slip. 4). Award will be made on an All or None' basis. 5). The
Contract Laboratory must possess and maintain for the duration of the
contract: a) A current license/CLIA certification as a clinical
laboratory in the State of California b) Must be directed by a licensed
pathologist c) Must be staffed by qualified and licensed technologists
performing the tests. 6). Copies of the certifications must be
furnished to the institution. 7). The Contractor must provide, at no
cost to the Government, all necessary tubes, needles, forms, and any
ancillary supplies needed to perform these tests. Services will be
required from Date of Award thru 12 months with four option years.

will be accepted, but an original copy MUST be forthcoming after the
