POC: Contracting Officer, Josephine Barker, (410) 436-2541 The United States Department of Defense is seeking sources for existing devices that may be used to provide training for the Chemical Agent Monitor (CAM). The simulator shall closely mimic the CAM in size, appearance, weight, and function. The simulator shall operate in the same way as the CAM under usual conditions. This shall include response to self-test and confidence check. It shall switch between G-mode and H-mode exactly like the CAM. The simulator shall not require use of the CAM to provide training though components of the CAM may be used, such as carrying case or carrying harness. It shall have the same two switches and display. The simulator shall be compatible with CAM components. All markings shall be the same as for the CAM except there shall be no radiation symbol and the markings shall be in blue to allow the user to easily recognize the simulator as a training device. The simulator shall detect and discriminate between G and H simulants. The simulants must provide for varying levels of agent response in G and H modes. They must be able to be concealed on a person, or a vehicle, and in packaging and terrain. They need to be variable such that the simulator will detect at ranges from 2 inches to 50 feet. The simulator shall not use chemical simulants. The simulator shall give feedback as to how successfully the operator employed the CAM. All errors in use of the CAM simulator by the trainee shall be shown to the trainer to allow the trainer to evaluate the trainee's performance. The simulator shall collect, store, and maintain a minimum of 6 hours of operation. The trainer shall be able to download this data for training evaluation. The simulator shall provide necessary interface cables and software for download and evaluation. The simulator shall operate in field training exercises. This market survey announcement is to identify existing technologies.
