COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 2,1998 PSA#2193Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Contracts Department,
Building 129-2, Highway 547, Lakehurst, NJ 08733-5083 79 -- RECLAIMING SYSTEM SOL N68335-98-RFI-810 DUE 102998 POC June
Manganello (732) 323-2735 The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft
Division, Lakehurst is seeking potential sources, industry comments and
product information for the acquisition of a reclaiming system to
process oil sorbent materials, such as granules and pads, that are
commonly used to soak up spilled petroleum, oil, and lubricant (POL)
products. The reclaiming unit should be able to handle, at a minimum,
granular clay-based oil sorbent material. The system should be able to
reclaim the sorbent material in a closed-loop process that will not
require or create any hazardous materials other than the used oil
removed from the oil sorbent material. The oil shall be placed in a
drum for ease of disposal and/or recycling. The processed sorbent
material shall be rendered reusable with nearly the same absorbency
rates virgin material. The equipment should have a capacity of at least
150 pounds of used sorbent within three hours. It is anticipated that
a laundering of the used oil sorbent will be required to accomplish
this. We are specifically looking for a system to process the clay
based sorbent but all reasonable options will be considered. This is a
Request For Information (RFI) only. The Government will not pay for
any information received in response to this Request For Information
(RFI), nor will the Government compensate any respondent for any costs
incurred in developing the information provided to the Government. A
response is required by Oct 29, 1998. Information shall be submitted to
