requirement for maintenance, on a monthly basis, on 3 each MHU-196 and
2 each MHU-204 munitions handling trailers to support munitions
loading on the B-1B, B-2A and B-52H aircraft. The contractor shall
track, monitor, and assist in the repair/ replacement process to ensure
timely completion. The contractor shall provide monthly maintenance
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m. (except Federal Holidays)
with a minimum of one senior Field Service Engineer (FSE). On call
support shall be provided on an as required basis. The contractor shall
respond to on call services within 1 hour from notification. On call
services are estimated to be 10 hours per year. The contractor shall
perform all organizational and intermediate level maintenance on
MHU-196/M and MHU-204/M and related matters, such as coordinating
supply requirements, scheduling periodic inspections, and preparation
of AFTO forms and other maintenance data reports. The contractor shall
have a standard inspection system. Repair action shall qualify the
repaired assets to meet original performance parameters. Interested
contractors must be able to demonstrate technical experience in the MHU
maintenance/repair process. The period of performance is for one year
starting on 1 October 1998, with two 1 year options. The proposed
contract action is for services for which the Government intends to
solicit and negotiate with only one source (AAI Corporation) under the
authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2). A determination by the Government not
to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this
notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Interested
offerors must submit adequate descriptive literature and evidence to
demonstrate their capability to provide such an item within cost and
time constraints by COB 28 Sep 98. Information received will normally
be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct
a competitive procurement. Firms responding must identify their
