The U.S. Information Agency's International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB)
has a requirement to procure Audio Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC)
for its Voice of America (VOA) broadcasting service. Each such DAC is
used to convert digital audio signals meeting the Audio Engineering
Society -- European Broadcasting Union (AES3) standard to conventional
analog line-level signals. The scope of the proposed contract includes
the fabrication and delivery of off-the-shelf, commercially-available
broadcast/professional audio equipment. USIA intends to issue a
solicitation document (RFP) for this negotiated firm-fixed-price
procurement in early October 1998 with a proposal response date in
November 1998. Qualified suppliers of broadcast-quality digital audio
systems may request a copy of the RFP by submitting a written request,
(or faxed request -- FAX No. 202-205-5466), to the USIA Contracting
Officer at the above-listed address. All questions regarding this RFP
must be submitted by fax or in writing to the USIA Contracting Officer
within 15 calendar days after issuance of the subject RFP. All
responsible sources may submit a proposal in response to the
forthcoming solicitation document, and all proposals meeting RFP
requirements will be considered by the Agency. This notice is not a
