and Armaments Command (TACOM) Market Survey #98008, due 30 days from
the date of this ad. This is NOT an Invitation for Bid (IFB) or a
Request for Proposal (RFP). Under PL 98-369 (CICA), this sources sought
market survey is seeking to identify potential suppliers for the USMC's
planned Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) of its fleet of Light
Armored Vehicles (LAVs). The objective of this program is to install
various improvements and upgrades in the 745 unit LAV fleet required to
extend the service life of the vehicles to 2015, to increase,
readiness, and to reduce maintenance and life cycle cost.
Improvements/upgrades are under consideration to resolve the following
problems with the USMC LAVs: (1) Improved LAV Alternator Bracket and
Alternator Tensioning; (2) Improved LAV Torsion Bars; (3) Improved LAV
Shocks Absorbers; (4) LAV Driver's Hatch Seal; (5) LAV Hatch Mechanism
Upgrade; (6) LAV Hatch Upgrade; (7) Powerjack Quick Disconnects; (8)
Low Voltage Headlights and Tailgates; (9) Muffler Signature Reduction;
(10) Pneumatic System Driver; (11) Powerjack Maintainability
Enhancements; (12) Steering Bearing Shaft Upgrade; (13) Swim Aids; (14)
Improved Wheel and Tire Assembly; (15) Improved Thermal Sight (HIRE)
Cable; (16) Alternator Test Kit; (17) Cable and Wiring Harness Test
Kit; (18) Gyro Test Kit; (19) Gyro Upgrade; (20) Interactive Electronic

respond. Responses should provide detailed information about the
proposed solution, including a detailed technical description,
NSNs/PNs, estimated cost, etc. The response should also identify any
previous contract(s) (contract number, dollar amount, Government POCs,
program description, etc) completed by the respondee. Offerors should
note that the vehicle Technical Data Package (TDP for the LAV is
proprietary to the manufacturer, so only limited, non-proprietary data
can be furnished. All interested firms, regardless of size are
encouraged to respond to this announcement. However, companies must
indicate business size with their written response to this synopsis.
