The Naval Air Systems Command will release SOLICITATION N00019-98-R-0043 on or about 15 October 1998 for the proposed Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) of the C-26D Aircraft. This solicitation will be available for download on the NAVAIR Home Page. The WWW address or URL is http://www.navair.navy.mil and the solicitation will be available under "Business Opportunities." Currently there are seven (7) aircraft that will require support. The three support sites are Sigonella, Italy, Naples, Italy, and either Atsugi, Japan, or Barking Sands, Hawaii. The third site will be determined prior to the issuance of the solicitation. The C-26D is a militarized version of the commercial, FAA type certified Fairchild Metro 23. The mission of this aircraft is to provide time-sensitive movement of personnel and cargo as well as limited medical evacuation. The Navy will provide military pilots to fly the aircaft.
