Program Support Specialist REVISION TO NOTICE -- The Department of
Energy invites small businesses (500 employees or less) to submit grant
applications in response to its sixth annual STTR program solicitation
to be issued on October 1, 1998. In the STTR program, small business
applicants must collaborate with a non-profit research institution, a
university, or a federally-funded research and development center
(e.g., a DOE National laboratory). A copy of the STTR solicitation may
be obtained by writing to the STTR Program Manager, ER-32, U.S.
Department of Energy, 19901 Germantown Road, Germantown, MD 20874, by
telephoning (301) 903-5707, or by accessing the World Wide Web at
http://sttr.er.doe.gov/sttr. The STTR program solicitation contains the
following technical topics: 1) Advanced Sensor Technology for Energy
Efficiency and Renewable Energy, 2) Instrumentation for Sampling,
Measuring, and Monitoring Green House Gases, Coal-Fired Related
Pollutants, and Hydrogen, 3) Carbon Management, 4) In Situ
Stabilization of Hazardous and Radioactive Wastes, and 5) Organic-Based
Emissive Devices for Flat Panel Display Technology. Successful
applicants (about 15-20) may receive up to $100,000 for a grant period
of about nine months to develop the feasibility of the idea, with up
to $500,000 available in a second phase for those ideas with the
highest potential to meet the STTR program objectives. The closing date
for this solicitation is January 7, 1999. Specific questions regarding
