This procurement will provide for a consortium of Navy libraries to provide access via the World Wide Web to two databases, Proquest Direct Computing and Proquest Direct Telecommunications. These databases contain bibliographic records, abstracts, indexes, full text, and images of 240 computing and telecommunications magazines and journals. The Web-based database provides searching and images of 1400 periodicals on business, management and planning. Proquest Direct Computing and Proquest Direct Telecommunications are unique aggregations of 240 magazines and journals. SPAWAR plans to award a sole source contract to University Microfilms, Inc (UMI), 300 North Zeeb Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48106. UMI offers a uniquely bundled package that waives the separate access fee for the purchase of another UMI product. These two databases are produced and distributed solely by UMI.
