Schultz 402-221-3563 Voice; 402-221-4251 Fax DESC: The purpose of this announcement is to notify perspective bidders of the National Park Service's intention to issue a solicitation for the following project: The National Park Service, Midwest Support Office is soliciting quotations from qualified antropological contractors and contract organizations to conduct a study of Scotch-Irish communities in the region of Ozark National Scenic Riverways in Missouri. Conduct of the study will require the provision of research services and the production of certain deliverables which are summarized as follows: 1) the collection of ethnographic and historical information regarding the use of cultural and natural resources, and the historical significance of the environment by descendants of the Scotch-Irish settlers of the region; 2) descriptions of contemporary significance of cultural and natural resources of the area, including cultural landscapes, if any; 3) the preparation and submittal of a professional quality report that presents the research information, in addition to submittal of other required deliverables. The following criteria shall be used in the evaluatioln of the prospective contractors and research teams; a) possession of an advanced degree in cultural anthropology; b) at least 2 years of full-time professional experience in applied anthropology research; c) demonstrated ability to carry research to completion, as shown by completed project reports, conference presentations, and refereed publications in scholarly journals; d) demonstrated knowledge of American history and/or early colonial culture and history, or knowledge of the Ozark region, as shown by prior research.
