Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), Office of Information Technology, Technology Policy, Planning and Acquisitions Office, IT Contracting, 1 Columbus Circle NE, Room 3-170, Washington, DC 20544

70 -- ELECTRONIC FILING, CASE FILES, AND CASE MANAGEMENT DUE 091198 POC Howard Grandier (202) 273-3555 The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) is seeking a new electronic case management system to replace the current federal court systems which have been in use since the early 1980's. The new system must provide robust case management features as well as electronic filing and electronic document management capabilities. The system will be deployed nationwide in approximately two hundred federal appellate, district and bankruptcy courts. The AO has considerable in-house expertise and experience in this arena resulting from the development of an experimental system, however, this in-house system will require extensive enhancement before it can be considered for deployment. As a result, the AO has determined that it is in our best interest to review currently operational commercial products that might offer alternative approaches to acquire these capabilities for the federal courts. If the AO decides that the commercial marketplace offers a better alternative, it will consider publishing an competitive RFP and conducting a full procurement process. If you have an operational product that offers case management, electronic filing and document imaging capabilities, and if you want the federal courts to consider your system in deciding whether or not to go to the commercial marketplace for these capabilities, please FAX your company name, contact point name and FAX number to Howard Grandier, Chief, IT Contracting, at FAX (202) 273-2308. All FAX's must be received by COB September 11, 1998.( Do not submit any technical information with this FAX, you will be asked to complete a seven page questionnaire and submit technical literature on your product in subsequent correspondence.) All information submitted will be used by the AO in determining whether or not to consider a commercial alternative. If your system is ultimately chosen as representative of the commercial products, you may be asked to demonstrate your product to federal court representatives in late October 1998.
