The following changes are made to the specifications for Item #1 (Immunostainer). Under Hardware Features, the minimum number of specimen slides that the equipment must be able to process is changed from 48 to 40. Also, delete the requirement that the robotic dispensing head have a fixed, stainless steel, teflon-coated probe. Under additional information for Item #2 (9 each, Visualization Kits), the following clarifications are provided. The required visualization kits must provide enough reagents for a total of 4,950 tests. The requirement for reagents does not include antibodies, buffers, and chromogen. In selecting the quote that is most advantageous to the VA, the following factors will be considered in addition to the factors already listed in the original CBD Notice. The productivity of the equipment being quoted will be evaluated,including the effect of the equipment's slide capacity on productivity. For equipment that uses disposable pipettes, the estimated costs of pipettes to be used will be added to the annual lease cost for evaluation purposes. Vendors must provide with their quotes information that addresses these factors. The due date for submission of quotes is changed from August 28, 1998, to September 2, 1998.
