U -- TRAINING SERVICES FOR ROTARY WING PROGRAMS The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division plans to issue a modification to the existing contract N00421-94-D-0160 (with Logistic Services International -- Jacksonville FL) to extend the period of performance from 11 July 1999 to 11 January 2000. This extension is necessary to finish specific aircrew and maintenance technical training efforts for Rotary Wing programs being supported by the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Logistics Competency (3.4A) without interruption of service to the Government. This training cannot be delayed until the follow-on contract is awarded because it is necessary to concurrently introduce training systems with production of several Rotary Wing aircraft programs (MV-22, H-1, H-46, CH-60, SH-60R and Aircrew Training System/Aircrew Training Continuum) as no other training capability is available. Similarly, once a contractor has started on the training development, it would not be in the best interest of the Government to sever the work so that it can be given to another contractor to complete. Therefore, the Government's minimum need can only be accomplished reasonably, and without impairing continuous support, through the award of this modification. This modification will not change the Statement of Work, labor categories, place of performance, deliverables, cost ceilings, or labor hour ceiling. These efforts will be continuous and within the scope of the current contract. This modification will provide continued service to the Fleet until the follow-on contract can be awarded.
