SOL RFP600-170-98tld DUE 091198 POC Teri Deihl, (562) 494-5828 (facsimile) The Network Business Center, VAMC West Los Angeles, intends to negotiate a commercial (FAR Part 12) sole source contract with Siemens Medical Systems, Cerritos, CA under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. A justification for other than full and open competition is being prepared in support of this acquisition. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 97-04. Siemens Medical Systems manufactures the Angiostar currently on site at the VAMC West Los Angeles. Upgrade to the Siemens Angiostar will include all original components and individual items which when assembled create the upgraded system required. To maintain integrity of the Angiostar system as a consequence of this upgrade, it is mandatory that only original equipment manufactured by Siemens be utilized in the sub-system upgrade package. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit a proposal. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. All proposals received b;y 4:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, September 11, 1998 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
