Survey notice. The U.S. Army plans to procure off-the-shelf,
non-developmental ammunition for test and evaluation. There is
potential for adoption and production for armed services use. The
munition shall be fired from and be compatible with standard M16 and M4
series rifles. The munition shall not require any special equipment.
The munition shall not cause any injury to the user or personnel in
close proximity of the target. The munition shall not require an
additional sighting device for use. The munition shall weigh no more
than 2 pounds each. The munition shall be capable of being put into
operation by the user in 60 seconds or less with minimal training of
the user. The munition shall be capable of breaching a metal security
door or solid wood door 1.75"thick from 6-40m range with up to +/-70
degrees desired. The munition shall cause no or minimal collateral
damage to structures or non- combatants who are not in the direct line
of fire or in close proximity. The munition shall usea bullet-trap
device compatible with the M855 ammunition; or if not available, the
proposal The munition shall include an estimate as to when this feature
can be provided. The munition shall be capable of storage and operation
in hot, basic and cold climatic design types per Army Regulation 70-38.
The munition shall be lead free and contain no hazardous materials
according to EPA 17. Interested firms shall submit, at no cost or
obligation to the Government, literature/brochures not exceeding
twenty(20) pages describing their technical capabilities and
systematically address each of the requirements listed above in
response to the aforementioned criteris to:Commander TACOM- ARDEC,

If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a
pre-solicitation notice will be published. Respondents should submit
their qualification data to the above address no later than COB 11 Sep
