NASA/MSFC is hereby soliciting information for potential sources for engineering support to the Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST) cryogenic optical testing definition at the MSFC X-ray Calibration Facility (XRCF). The potential contract will consist of providing engineering support for the cryogenic test planning operations at the XRCF, requirements definition of long lead hardware items to support the testing operations, and support for the optical test operations, data acquistions, analysis, and verification. The support will require an extensive knowledge of the NGST mirror system development efforts currently being managed at MSFC, an intimate knowledge of the XRCF capabilities and operations, and an expert knowledge in testing of large optical systems. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in the CBD and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these cites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Interested offerors/vendors having the required specialized capabilities to meet the above requirement should submit a capability statement of 15 pages or less indicating the ability to perform all aspects of the effort described herein.
