Contract Specialist, (404) 842-6553 The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) intends to award a contract for Microcomputer Support
Services for CDC and the Agency for Toxic Substance Disease Registry
(ATSDR). This acquisition is reserved exclusively for participation by
small business concerns. Work to be performed under the contract
includes hardware repair and maintenance of Government Microcomputer
equipment; maintaining a spare parts inventory; software support
including installation, integration, operation and user orientation;
local and wide area network administration and support; problem
diagnosis and tracking including maintaining a CDC-Wide Help Desk; and
video teleconferencing support. Existing Technology is primarily Intel
Microprocessors connected through token ring networks utilizing Novell
Netware. Local area networks are interconnected into a wide area
network via backbone connections ranging from fractional T1 to FDDI-100
Mpbs. Offerors must be capable of repairing and maintaining
microcomputer technology (PCs, workstations, servers, graphics &
imaging equipment, videoteleconferencing equipment, peripherals) from
a variety of manufacturers (for example Dell, Apple AST, Compaq,
Everex, IBM and Sun) and supporting a broad variety of microcomputer
software (such as database, spreadsheet, word processing, CAD, desk top
publishing, electronic mail, etc.). Contract Performance will be at
CDC's primary offices in Atlanta, GA as well as in Washington, DC;
Hyattsville, MD; Cincinnati,OH; and Morgantown, WV;. Travel may also be
necessary to other CDC sites such as Anchorage, AK; and San Juan, PR;
quarantine office throughout the United States and occasional travel
outside the United States. A Cost Reimbursement/Time and Materials
contract for one year with two option years is planned. The
solicitation is expected to be available on or about Dec 7, 1998. The
date specified for receipt of offers will be approximately 60 days
after the RFP release date. A pre-proposal conference is planned to be
held after RFP release butprior to the date specified for receipt of
